In the western United States, a competition is underway to highlight marmots. These small animals, similar in size to house cats, are found in certain regions of North America. The public is being invited to participate in a voting process to determine which marmot is best prepared for hibernation.

This will be decided by choosing the marmot that appears to be the most well-fed. Further information about this event, including the voting schedule, can be found through the Rocky Mountain Biological Laboratory Marmot Project.
